Description

Brook House is a house dating from the early 17th century. It is timber-framed and stands on a brick and flint plinth that is nearly as high as the entire ground storey. The house has two storeys and features six bays arranged in a three-cell plan. There is an internal chimney-stack, which may have been built into an earlier smoke-bay. The north side has a 20th-century brick gable end with a chimney-stack. The roof is covered with black glazed pantiles. The windows include three-light and two-light casements, with the ground storey windows being from the 20th century and those on the upper storey dating to the 19th century. Inside, all framing is exposed, showcasing heavy main beams and joists set on edge. The trusses have long arched braces, and the roof structure consists of side purlins with principal rafters.
