Description
No. 20 on The Street in Stoke by Clare is a lodge built around 1815. It features a construction of cut flint with gault brick dressings and has hipped plain tile roofs. The building has a T-shaped plan, which was altered to a cruciform shape by an east addition made in 1985. It is a single-storey structure with a porch on the west side that is included under the main hipped roof, supported by four tree-trunk posts. There is a 20th-century plastic lattice screen between the posts. The entrance has a six-panelled door set beneath a four-centred head. The windows consist of two-light leaded casements with four-centred heads, all of which were renewed in the late 20th century. The east extension features a two-light top-hung 20th-century casement on the south side. The central octagonal stack has a rebuilt cap. Inside, all rooms are plain, and the roof structure consists of principals and collars.
