Description
Round Lodge, which served as a lodge to the now-demolished Stoke Hall, was built around 1820. It is constructed of roughcast and whitewashed brick, topped with a thatched roof. The building has a circular plan and is a single storey. The northeast side features a timber verandah supported by cast-iron compound lattice piers. It has wide eaves beneath a conical roof, which includes a central hexagonal chimney.
The south-facing entrance has a pointed-arched doorway that is externally planked and features intersecting Y-tracery on the inside. There are four pointed-arched 2-light Y-traceried windows evenly spaced around the building, with the one on the southwest side being replaced in the 20th century. Inside, the lodge has a dished plastered ceiling and a central fireplace with a rectangular free-standing flue.
