Description
The wall and gate piers to Goldrood House date from the early 19th century. This red brick wall features a stone coping and is located to the south-west of Goldrood House, extending approximately 150 metres in both the north-west and south-east directions. The wall consists of five bays, each separated by tall piers that have a stone cornice adorned with egg and dart ornamentation and a fluted frieze. The wall rises in curves from about 2.4 metres in the centre to approximately 3 metres at the piers. The gateway piers are larger, standing at about 3.6 metres, and also feature stone cornices with egg and dart moulding and a fluted frieze. These piers are topped with large ornamental urns, and there are attractive wrought iron gates.
