Description
The Primary School and The Old Schoolhouse is a house that was formerly a school and schoolhouse, marked "Rectory School 1849" on a tablet. It is designed in the Gothick style and consists of one storey, with the schoolhouse also having one storey and attics. The building is constructed of knapped flint with gault brick dressings. It features parapet gables with copings, carved kneelers, and octagonal finials made of limestone. The roofs are covered in fishscale slates with decorative ridge tiles, and there are hipped slated casement dormers.
There is a group of three circular chimneys that have patterning in carved gault brick and moulded rendered octagonal bases. The large schoolroom windows are arched and have limestone hoodmoulds along with curved glazing bars. Other windows on the building have hoodmoulds, splayed brick reveals, and leaded casements. The entrance porch is a one-storey structure with a parapet gable and a slated roof, featuring a hood-moulded arched doorway and a battened door with an arched fanlight.
