Description

The Elephant and Castle Public House is an early 19th-century public house located on Hospital Road in Bury St Edmunds. The building features a white brick front and a rendered east side, topped with a slate roof.

It is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The first storey has 12-pane sash windows, while the ground storey has sashes with a single vertical bar, all set in flush cased frames with flat gauged arches. The entrance is a central Edwardian half-glazed door, which is accessed by three steps and is recessed within a semicircular stuccoed double-arched doorway that includes panelled pilasters and a fanlight with radiating glazing bars. There is also a rear wing that is positioned at right angles to the main structure. The interior has not been inspected.
