Description
Grange Farmhouse is a former farmhouse built in two main stages. The earlier part dates from the early 17th century or earlier and is located at the front, while the mid-19th century range is positioned at right angles to the rear. The earlier range is two storeys high with attics and has a three-cell plan. It is timber-framed and encased in mid-20th century red brick, featuring a plaintiled roof with 19th century crested ridge tiles. An axial chimney from the early 17th century is made of red brick and has six attached octagonal shafts, with the caps rebuilt in the mid-19th century. The windows in this section are mid-20th century casements.
The rear 19th century range is constructed of red brick with a diaper pattern created using burnt headers. It also has a plaintiled roof with carved bargeboards, spike finials, and crested ridge tiles, along with two gabled dormers that share similar decorative details. This section has two red brick chimneys, each with three octagonal shafts, and is two storeys tall with three windows, featuring casements with lintelled heads and two splayed bays. An open gabled 19th century porch is present, which is timber-framed with trelliswork sides and a half-glazed panelled door.
