Description
Corner Cottage is a house with a late 16th century core, which may have originally been built as a barn. It was remodeled and converted into a dwelling in the 18th century. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, with a pantiled roof that was once thatched. There are 19th and 20th century internal end chimneys on the left and right sides. The house has two storeys and originally had two bays, although a further bay to the left was demolished in the mid-20th century. The windows are mid-20th century casements, and there is a mid-20th century gabled pantiled entrance porch with a panelled door. Inside, the house features arch-braced open trusses, all of which have been altered, and there is an aisle at the rear that is now an outshut. The front wall framing is partially intact. There is no evidence of an upper floor until the 18th century, suggesting that the building was used as a barn until that time.
