Description

Manor Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating to the late 16th century, with later alterations. It is a two-storey building originally of a three-cell plan. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, with a plaintiled roof punctuated by spike finials at the gables. A chimney runs axially, with a 20th-century red brick shaft. Late 19th and 20th-century sash windows are present. A 20th-century boarded entrance door is set within a gabled, plaintiled porch built around 1980. A 19th-century plastered brick and pantiled extension extends to the left. The building is believed to feature unmoulded timber framing from the late 16th century. The interior contains lintelled open fireplaces with jambs formed of medieval limestone blocks, originally taken from the Abbey of St Edmundsbury, and incorporating moulded 12th-century shafts.
