Description
35 and 37 Stowupland Street is a house that now serves as a house and shop, likely dating from the late 16th century but refronted in the early 19th century. The building is timber-framed with a red brick front featuring a gault brick zig-zag vertical pattern. It has a plain tile roof and follows a baffle entry plan. The structure is two storeys tall with five irregular bays.
The entrance to No. 35 is a four-panelled door located left of centre, framed by a timber doorcase with a hood supported by brackets and an overlight. To the left of the door are two 8/8 sash windows without horns, set under gauged skewback arches, with a similar window to the right. The first floor has four 4/8 sash windows. No. 37 has a ground floor made of 20th-century Fletton brick and features a metal display window, along with one 3-light 20th-century metal casement window. The building has a bell-based gabled roof with a ridge stack positioned left of centre. Inside, the ground floor of No. 37 includes a chamfered bridging beam.
