Description
The Pickerel Inn is a public house located on Stowupland Street in Stowmarket. It dates from the early 18th century and features a roughcast and colourwashed timber-frame construction under a plain tile roof. The building has two storeys and five first-floor window bays.
The mid-19th century public house front is positioned left of centre and includes three entrances, which are separated by two groups of two-light glazing, all beneath a cornice hood. To the left, there is a tripartite sash window with 2/2 glazing bars, and to the right, there is another sash window with a doorway in between. The first floor is illuminated by five sash windows with various pane configurations, including 4/4, 6/6, and 8/8 panes. The gabled roof features two flat-topped dormers with casement windows.
Inside, the ground-floor west bar includes a chamfered spine beam with tongue stops.
