Description
This barn, located 40 meters east of Street Farmhouse, likely has a core dating from the 15th century, with alterations made in the 16th and 19th centuries. It features three bays and is constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding, topped with a pantiled roof. The central bay has a pair of late 20th-century boarded doors, and there is evidence of a now-blocked opposing doorway. The barn retains fairly complete, widely spaced studwork from the 15th and 16th centuries, with arch wind-bracing at the corners. The open trusses include tiebeams with long, thick arch-braces. One wallplate displays a long edge-halved and bridled scarf with a slight but distinctive splay, similar to early 15th-century work seen at Street Farmhouse. The roof has been rebuilt, and a lean-to structure was added next to the road in the 19th century. This barn is included for its group value with the nearby farmhouse.
