Description
Poplar Farmhouse is a farmhouse that was likely built in two stages during the 16th and early 17th centuries. It features a three-cell cross-entry plan, with the parlour cell designed in a cross-wing form, probably from the 17th century. The building has two storeys, and the cross-wing includes attics. It is constructed with timber framing and plaster, and the wing has a jettied gable foot. The roofs are covered with plain tiles. There is an axial chimney made of red brick from the 17th or 18th century. The windows are mainly late 19th or early 20th century casements, some of which have leaded lights, along with several small 16th and 17th century mullioned windows that are exposed and glazed, featuring ovolo mullions. The entrance door is a boarded door from the 20th century. Additionally, a rear range likely started as a bakehouse and dairy from the 16th or 17th century and was originally detached until the 19th or 20th century.
