Description

Grove Farmhouse is a house that dates from the early 19th century, although it may have earlier origins. It features a timber frame on a brick base, with plastered walls. The roof is hipped and covered with black glazed pantiles, while the rear has red pantiles. The building has a three-cell front range and three wings extending to the rear, creating a large, almost square block. It stands two storeys tall.

The main range includes three three-light glazing bar casements set in moulded frames with hoodmoulds. There is an offset plinth and boxed eaves, with a gap to the right of centre where an axial ridge stack rises, made of red brick with white brick dressings. The right return has a central entrance featuring a recessed six-panelled door with a traceried fanlight, framed by a pilastered doorcase with a projecting hood. It also has 16-pane flush moulded frame sashes, with 12 panes above the entrance.

The slightly shorter left return has a mix of two and three-light casements, also with hoodmoulds, and an internal end stack made of exposed red brick with white brick dressings. There is a rear gable end lean-to outshut. The longer wings to the centre and right have hipped roofs at the rear, with two red brick stacks located in the central valley. The interior has not been inspected.
