Description

Lower House is a house that possibly dates from the late 16th century or 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century and early 20th century. It features a timber frame with brick and plaster infill, and has roofs made of pantiles and tiles with a brick chimney. The building is L-shaped, with arms extending to the north-east and south-east, and it stands two storeys high.

On the north-west elevation, there is one window; the gable front to the right has a first-floor, two-light mid-20th century casement window, while the ground floor features an early 20th century casement window, also with two lights. The structure has heavy corner posts with triple-angle struts in the gable above a cambered tie-beam. A heavy cambered beam divides the storeys, and there is an angle strut from the cill to the left corner post. To the left, there is a lower unfenestrated wing with three square panels extending from the cill to the wall-plate. The entrance is located on the left side of the main range, behind the subsidiary wing.

Inside the main wing, timber-framed cross-walls create three structural bays, and there are chamfered ceiling beams. The southern side wall is underbuilt in brick.
