Description
Church House is a house that possibly dates from the 17th century, with enlargements and remodelling from the 18th century, along with late 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of brick and features a tiled roof with brick end stacks. The building has an L-plan layout, with a subsidiary wing extending southeast. It includes a cellar, two storeys, and an attic.
The north-west elevation showcases three tripartite sash windows under segmental heads, a plat band, and a central entrance with a late 20th-century canopy and door. Inside, there is an 18th-century dog-leg staircase with two flights and turned balusters. The principal room on the northern first floor contains an 18th-century cupboard with fielded panels and decorative strap hinges. The roof of the three-bay main range features two interrupted tie-beam trusses, each supported by two pairs of parallel angle struts for partitioning. This building is included for its group value and is an important part of the setting for the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
