Description
STAPLEFORD GOBIONS LANE TL 21 NE (Northwest side) Stapleford 3/115 Great Gobions - Farm House GV II
House. C17 or earlier, largely rebuilt c.1800. Timber frame wing with brick main range. Stuccoed, incised to resemble ashlar. Slate and tiled roof. 3 x 3 bays incorporating early 2 bay cross wing to left. 2 storeys. Central entrance: 6 fielded panelled door with traceried rectangular fanlight, deep reeded reveals and soffit, pilaster doorcase with hood. Ground floor right small canted bay with a 16 pane sash. First floor centre and right 16 pane sashes in deep reveals. Boxed eaves. Early left bay has a gable to front with glazing bar sashes in shallower reveals. Left return 2 early bays have an C18 external stack with tumbled in offsets, C20 casements. Tiled roof. Attached to rear left a further bay with a separate lower ridge and a C19 external stack with offsets. 3 bay right return under hipped roof. Ground floor: canted bay towards front, central small casement, 16 pane sash towards rear. First floor 16, 12 and 16 pane sashes. 2 stacks behind ridge. To rear: 3 bays, colourwashed brick, 16 pane sashes with cambered heads. C20 door and first floor blind opening to left. Dentilled eaves to two later bays. Early bay projects slightly with gable. Interior not inspected.
