Description

Nos. 2 and 4 Main Road are a pair of houses dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. They are constructed with a timber frame and brick infill, featuring cement render and roughcast, with the frame exposed at the front. The houses have a hipped thatched roof and consist of five bays with four windows across two storeys. The entrances are located at the centre of each dwelling, with plank doors that have moulded frames and small hoods above. The windows are two-light small pane casements, also with flush moulded frames and hoods. The visible frame shows small scantling, irregularly spaced studs, and passing tension braces on the first floor. There is a multiform axial ridge stack at the centre, which has been partly rebuilt, and the roughcast returns extend to the sides. At the rear, there is a catslide roof over a continuous lean-to outshut that is weatherboarded and has an entrance at the right end. The interior has not been inspected.
