Description
The forecourt wall located immediately north of Bramfield Place Farm House dates from the mid-16th century. It is constructed from irregularly bonded red brick and measures approximately 30 meters by 20 meters, forming an L shape. The wall stands about 2 meters high and features a plinth. There is a diagonally set course of bricks at the top, arranged on end and canted to create a coping effect. The wall includes two central piers that have some ashlar and were refaced in 19th-century white brick, with stone slabs used as capping. A separate spur at the right end has a canted return angle. This wall is the only remaining structure from a house likely built for R. Dacres after the Dissolution of the Monasteries, which was demolished in the early 19th century.
