Description
Fir Tree Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with a later extension from the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a steeply pitched tiled roof. The building has two storeys and three windows. The central entrance is adorned with shaped brackets supporting a flat hood. On the first floor, there is a small pane single light casement window in the center, while the outer bays contain slightly recessed horizontal sliding sash windows with gauged brick flat arched heads. A projecting course runs along the eaves, and the gable ends have parapets with kneelers. The cottage has external end stacks, with the left stack being larger and original, and the right stack being added or rebuilt, featuring a white brick shaft with an oversailing cap. To the left of the main house is a one-storey former forge, which has a strap-hinged plank door and one and two light small pane metal casements. There is also a dairy lean-to at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
