Description
House. It was built in the mid-18th century, with a kitchen block representing a rebuilding of a 16th-century open hall. The house is constructed of red brick, and possibly retains timber framing in the earlier wing. Roofs are tiled and slate covered. The main range is three bays wide and has two storeys and attics. The central entrance features a half-glazed and half-panelled door with a hood. Flanking the entrance are three-light small pane casements in shallow reveals with cambered heads. A plat band runs along the first floor, above which are similar three-, two-, and three-light windows. Boxed eaves are present. Two later two-light box dormers are situated over the outer bays. Gable end brick parapets feature moulded kneelers. Tall internal end stacks are prominent. Attached to the right end, and slightly set back, is a one-bay kitchen/dairy block with a steep roof pitch. The block has a plinth. A plank door provides entrance, alongside a 20th-century two-light casement in a deep reveal with a cambered head and a two-light box dormer. An internal right end stack is present. A pantiled lean-to outshut is on the right end. To the rear, a slate catslide roof covers a four-bay continuous lean-to outshut, featuring two-light flush frame casements and box dormers. A two-light small pane casement in a deep reveal with a cambered head is located to the rear of the kitchen block. The interior has not been inspected.
