Description
Nos. 203 and 204 on The Street in Thornham Magna are two dwellings that were originally a single house built in the mid to late 17th century and later altered in the 19th century. The structure features a timber frame with plastered walls and a thatched roof. It has a two-cell layout that was originally designed with a lobby entry plan and consists of one storey and an attic.
The original central entrance has been blocked, and there are steps leading up to boarded architraved doors at both outer ends. To the left, there is an open gabled porch supported by chamfered timber uprights. The windows include three-light glazing bar casements with hoodboards, and there are two and three-light thatched gabled dormers. A central axial ridge stack is located in the attic on the left gable end, which also features a two-light casement window. The exposed plates and collars of thin scantling clasping purlins are visible inside. The right gable end attic has two and three-light casements. At the rear, there is a brick lean-to addition with corrugated sheet roofing. Inside, the building contains axial and cross axial stop-chamfered binding beams, although the frame is largely concealed.
