Description

The Hollies is a house located in Botesdale, dating from the early 19th century, with a brick front added around 1920. It features a timber frame with white brick end walls that have been colourwashed, while the rear is rendered. The roof is covered with black glazed pantiles. The building has a three-bay, double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall.

On the ground floor, there is a central entrance that is slightly raised, featuring a part fielded six-panelled door with a traceried semi-circular fanlight above. The entrance is flanked by panelled pilasters and has lozenges on a reeded key-blocked arch, with an outer early 20th-century brick arch. The ground floor windows are 16-pane sash windows with architraves.

The first floor has four 4-pane sashes set in moulded frames that are now recessed. The eaves are boxed, and there are outer pilaster strips. The house has four internal end stacks. The left side of the building has a part-glazed door leading to the rear section. At the rear, on the ground floor, there is an entrance with a six-panelled architraved door positioned to the right of centre, alongside a large 16-pane part-opening metal frame casement and a three-light casement. The first floor features glazing bar sashes and hoodboards. There are also outbuildings attached to the right end and to the rear right of the house.
