Description
Sanford House is a house located on Broughton High Street, dating from the early 18th century with a 19th-century addition. The building is constructed of colourwashed brick and features an old plain tile roof. It is two storeys high with three bays, including a rear outshot and a single-storey bay on the right side added in the 19th century.
The central entrance consists of a six-panel door set within a doorcase that has a heavy architrave supported by carved brackets and an open pediment. On either side of the door are 19th-century four-pane sash windows, with the left window featuring an original rubbed brick head. The first floor has three similar sash windows, and there is a wrought iron bracket for a sign at the right end of the building. A stack is located at the right end, and the 19th-century bay has a round-headed window and a double pile hipped roof.
