Description
Willow Lodge is a house that has been converted into three dwellings. It dates back to the 16th or 17th century and has been altered and extended in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features a timber frame, with some parts cased in red brick and plastered. It has steeply pitched roofs covered with pantiles. Originally, it consisted of two cells and was likely a single storey. A cross range and stack were added to the right, creating an L-shaped plan. The house is now one storey with attics.
The windows are 20th-century casements with two and four lights, each with hoodmoulds, and there are two gabled dormers with bargeboards. An axial ridge stack is located to the right of the main range, while a 19th-century internal stack with a red brick quoined end wall is found at the left end. To the right, a slightly lower two-bay range extends forward, featuring a bargeboarded gable at the front and a hip at the rear. The entrance is through a 20th-century gabled porch added to the left side of this range. At the rear, there are dormer windows and a 20th-century lean-to addition.
Inside, the building has altered exposed framing with some close studding and tension bracing. It includes stop-chamfered axial and cross axial binding beams and joists, with thinner scantling in the addition to the right. Some of the framing is partly concealed, and the first floor has not been inspected.
