Description

The wellhead gear located to the west of Wortham House dates from the 19th century and is made of cast iron. It features an A-frame design, with a handle on a large wheel that turns a small cog. This small cog engages a larger cog on an axle connected to a U-bend, which leads to a weighted pump shaft. The wellhead gear is included in the listing for its group value with Wortham House.
