Description

The house at Pollard Tree Farm dates primarily to the 17th century, with possible earlier origins. It was extended and given a new facade in the late 19th century. The house is timber-framed, largely brick-cased, and plastered with colourwashing. It has a thatched roof. Originally, the house may have been a small, two-bay open hall, extended to the right (likely the service end), and now consists of three rooms.

The house is one storey with an attic. The entrance is in what was likely a cross passage position, located to the right of centre and within a 19th-century pantiled gabled porch. A three-light casement window with an inverted terracotta festoon is on the front of the porch; an entrance is in the left return. To the left, there are two recessed single glazing-bar sash windows with segmental heads and inverted festoons. To the right is a 20th-century three-light casement. There are four thatched, gabled dormers. An axial ridge stack is located to the left of centre, between the hall and parlour. An external stack on the right end is dated to the 17th century and is constructed of English bond brick tapering to a cap. In front of the stack is a 19th-century red brick section with white brick dressings, concealing plastered walls and a lean-to oven outshut behind. Visible plate and purlin are apparent.

At the rear, diamond mullioned windows are found in the hall and parlour bays, with two near the eaves being original. An oven outshut is located behind the stack. Attached to the left end is a 19th-century clay lump addition with a lower pantiled roof and a brick front, featuring a blind, segmental-headed window. The return side of this addition is weatherboarded. The interior has not been inspected.
