Description

Hall Farm Cottages is a farmhouse that has been converted into three dwellings. It dates from the early to mid 17th century and may have been built in two phases, with alterations and extensions made in the early 19th century. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, featuring steeply pitched roofs covered with plain tiles. The building has an L-shaped plan, with each range consisting of three cells and a lobby entrance. It is two storeys high with an attic.

The front range has an entrance located to the left of center, which features a six raised panelled door set within an early 19th-century hooded architrave. To the right of center, there is a second entrance that is located in a 20th-century gabled porch. The windows are three-light transomed leaded pane casements in moulded frames, each with hoodboards above. A continuous timber dentilled eaves cornice runs along the roofline.

There is an original axial ridge stack to the left of center, along with an inserted stack on the front roof slope to the right. The slightly shorter and lower return wing has a gabled front and similar windows, with three lights in the attic. The return wing features an entrance towards the front with a six raised panelled door set within an architrave, and a second entrance towards the rear. Behind the first entrance is an axial ridge stack with four conjoined hexagonal shafts and a moulded common base. At the rear of the front range, there is an early 19th-century six panelled door leading into a brick addition, which has cross casements and a gabled wing extending further to the rear. The interior frame is concealed and has not been inspected. The site is partly moated.
