Description
The forecourt walls and gate piers immediately south of Ling Farm House date from the early 19th century and are constructed of red brick. The walls, approximately 1 meter high, enclose three sides of the forecourt, featuring openings at both ends near the house and a central opening at the front. The central low iron gate has a circular band, with flanking piers topped by ashlar ball finials. The design includes ramps leading down to the wall, which has pilaster strip divisions, with two panels on each front section and four on each return. The ramps rise at the return angles, and there is a dentilled course at the rounded coping. These structures are included for their group value with Ling Farm House.
