Description
Charity Farmhouse is a house that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates from the 16th or 17th century or possibly earlier. The building is timber framed and has a red brick facade, with a plastered gable end facing the road. The lower range is located to the left (south). The roofs are covered with red plain tiles. There are off-centre chimneystacks on both the right and left ranges, with an external stack on the left range. The house is two storeys high with attics. Each gable has one window per storey, but the brick face features only one window on the left and two on the right. The windows are vari-light casements in a 19th-century style with centre transoms. There are 20th-century part-glazed doors for each range. The right range has two X tie plates. Inside, there is an inglenook fireplace, heavy chamfered bridging joists, flat section ceiling beams, and a brick floor. The rear face of the building, which was likely the original front entrance, has a 19th-century design with a four-window range of three-light casements featuring centre transoms and two gabled porches, along with vertically boarded doors that have strap hinges.
