Description
12 and 14 Tavern Street are two houses that have been converted into offices. They date from the early 17th century and were reworked in the late 18th century. The buildings are plastered and colourwashed, with a plain tile roof and two storeys.
No. 12 features three irregular bays, with a 20th-century central six-panelled door and overlight set within a moulded doorcase. To the right, there is one eight-over-eight sash window, and to the left, there are two sashes with irregularly spaced glazing bars. The first floor has three identical sash windows.
No. 14 has two irregular bays, with a recessed door to the left of the elevation, also within a moulded doorcase. This house has two sash windows on each floor, matching the pattern of No. 12. Both buildings have an eaves cornice supported by multiple brackets and a gabled roof. A saw-toothed brick ridge stack is located at the junction of the two properties. The rear of the buildings features two cross wings and two gables on the main wing.
