Description

A barn dating to the 17th century is located approximately 35 metres west of Spring Farm House. The barn is timber-framed with original wattle and daub infill, now rendered. It has a steeply pitched corrugated asbestos roof. The barn comprises four bays, featuring a gabled midstrey facing the house and a pair of double doors opposite the midstrey. Inside, the structure showcases studding with mid rails and arched bracing within the walls. Notable features include jowled posts with arched braces to cambered tie beams, queen struts supporting cambered collars to the principal rafters, and lower butt purlins. The upper purlins are clasped by collars and halved principal rafters, with cranked windbraces attached to the upper purlins. Spring Farmhouse itself is not a listed building.
