Description
The Old Cottage is a house, now divided into two dwellings, likely built in the late 17th century and extended in the 19th century. It features a timber frame that has been extended with clay lump and is plastered. The roof is thatched, with pantiles on the later additions. The building has one storey and an attic, and it probably started as a small three-cell structure. There are two boarded doors located to the right and left of the center, along with scattered glazing bar casements, hoodboards, and a three-light dormer. A rendered stack is positioned on the ridge at what is likely the original left end, while the main stack is external on the right gable end and incorporated into a slightly set-back 19th-century one-bay addition, which has a boarded door at the front and glazing bar casements on the return, with a lean-to at the rear. The left gable end features a small weatherboarded lean-to, an attic with a two-light casement, and exposed plates and purlins. The interior frame is concealed.
