Description

Langham Hall Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from the early to mid 17th century. It is timber-framed and rendered, with concrete plain tiles on the roof. The right gable wall is made of painted brick and features corbels and stone coping, which incorporates a chimney stack with a plain shaft. The building has two storeys and includes an internal chimney stack with a high rectangular base and three attached square shafts set diagonally, all with heavy corbelled heads.

The windows are 20th-century metal casements with two and three lights. There is a 19th-century enclosed gabled porch that is rendered and has fluted bargeboards and a spike finial. The porch contains a four-panel door with sunk panels and a rectangular fanlight, framed by a moulded architrave, with a lobby entrance located against the stack. The farmhouse's frame consists of six bays, and the interior is divided into four rooms in a line, though there is no obvious join or extension to explain its unusual length. The frame includes a middle rail, but most of the framing is covered. The main beams have a small chamfer and curved stops with jewels, and the joists are set on edge and widely spaced. There is one fireplace with a plain timber lintel. The roof has not been examined. Additionally, there is a 19th-century single-storey lean-to at the rear, which is divided into two sections.
