Description
Moat Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th or 17th century. It is timber-framed with colourwashed render and has been partially refaced with brick in the 19th century. The roof is covered with plain tiles and the building has an L-shaped plan, standing two storeys high.
On the entrance front, the windows date from the 19th century. There is a lean-to porch that projects from the right of centre, featuring a half-glazed door and a pantile roof. To the right of the porch is a sash window with 4x4 panes, and above it is a first-floor window with 4x3 panes. On the left side at ground floor level, there are two 2-light casements, and above them on the first floor is another 2-light casement. A chimneystack with three flues is located at the ridge towards the right of centre. The left side of the building has a blank gable end, while the right side features a gable end on the left and a projecting wing with a slightly higher ridge on the right. The ground floor of this wing has brick walling, with a sash window of 4x4 panes to the right and a 2-light window on the first floor. The right side of the wing continues the brick walling and has a projecting plinth, a half-glazed door on the left, and a 3-light casement on the right, along with a single-light casement to the left of the door. On the first floor, there are two 3-light casements to the left and a sash window with 4x3 panes on the right.
At the rear, there is a projecting gabled wing on the left with a 20th-century chimney stack that has two flues. The right flank features 2-light casements on both the ground and first floors. To the right on the axial range, there is a stable door on the left and two 2-light casements to the right of it, with two additional 2-light casements on the first floor.
Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered ceiling beams with stepped lamb's tongue end-stops, close-studded walls, a blocked window, and jowled wall posts.
