Description

Well Farmhouse is a 17th-century house, with later additions. It is timber-framed and has colourwashed render, originally thatched, now covered by a pantile roof. The house is two and a half storeys high. The front has 19th and 20th-century windows. A projecting two-storey gabled cross-wing is on the left, with a three-light window on the ground floor and a three-light and a single-light window on the first floor. To the right of the cross-wing, at ground floor level, are two three-light casements, one two-light casement, and one four-light casement. A gabled porch with a plank door and moulded muntins is on the right. Two raking dormer windows are on the ridge – one with two lights and one with three lights. The ridge level is lower on the right-hand side than on the left. A chimney stack is located to the left of centre on the right-hand wall, and another is situated to the right of centre on the left-hand portion. The right-hand gable has a three-light window on both the ground and first floors. The left-hand gable has two three-light ground floor casements and a first floor casement on the left. The rear of the house features numerous additions, including an 18th-century gabled projecting wing on the left, a two-storey flat-roofed addition on the right, and a lean-to service wing on the far right.
