Description
Grove House Farm House is a farmhouse built around 1820-1830, with alterations made in the 20th century. It features a timber frame on a brick base, covered in roughcast, and has a black glazed pantiled roof. The building consists of three bays and is two storeys high with an attic. The original front facing the garden includes a central part-glazed, fielded four-panel door, framed by an architrave with dentilled brackets supporting a hood in a 20th-century gabled porch. The windows are 20th-century casements, and the house has a double offset plinth and boxed eaves. The broad gable ends have extruded stacks with separate chimney breasts that connect to common shafts above a relieving arch, which features attic lunette windows. To the left, there is a 20th-century lean-to outshut, and to the rear right, a pantiled brick-oven outshut. The rear entrance is located to the right of centre, featuring an inner four-panelled architraved door in a 20th-century gabled porch. The rear windows include flush frame glazing bar sashes, with tripartite arrangements in the outer bays consisting of 12 panes on the ground floor and six panes on the first floor, and small sashes in the centre. To the rear left, there is a one-storey and attic dairy wing with an entrance leading towards the main range. Inside, the house has a top-lit central staircase with X-shaped balusters, moulded newel posts, and handrails that sweep around to the first-floor landing, along with a further flight of stairs at right angles to a curved attic landing.
