Green Farmhouse

Green Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from the 16th century, built in two phases. It features a later wing at the rear on the left side. The building is timber framed and rendered, topped with a pantiled roof. It has two storeys and an attic, with various casement windows, some of which are old, and French doors located to the left of centre. Inside, there is an internal stack with a rebuilt axial shaft and another stack against the rear wall. A mid-20th century lean-to entrance addition has been added to the rear.

The interior has undergone considerable renovation in the mid-20th century, which has concealed much of the original structure. The older part of the farmhouse comprises four bays to the left of the stack. The hall features a chamfered axial floor beam and a studded service partition with evidence of former doorways. The upper room at the left end contains a 17th-century doorway with cyma moulding and elaborate stops. The queen-post roof over the older section is notable, except in the roof bay at the extreme left where clasped purlins are present. It is worth noting that the bays of the queen-post roof do not fully align with the bays of the wall structure.
