Description
No. 3 Ipswich Road is a house dating from the late 17th century. It has a two-cell lobby-entrance plan and stands two storeys high. The building is timber-framed and rough-cast, topped with a plaintiled roof that features a central chimney made of red brick. The windows include mid-19th century large-pane sashes and late 20th century small-pane casements. There is a 20th century panelled entrance door located at the lobby-entrance position. Inside, some unmoulded timber-framing is exposed, and the slender on-edge joists in the hall suggest a possible late 17th century date. However, the rafters and other components have been reused from a medieval house.
