Description
Valley Cottage is a house with probable origins in the 18th century, which was altered and extended to the rear around 1800 to create an L-shaped plan. It was renovated in the early 1980s. The cottage features a timber frame with a random-pattern render dating from around 1980 and has a thatched roof. The front block is 1½ stories tall, while the rear is a single story. The front block includes two mid-20th century casement windows, and the roof is designed in a mansard style. The rear wing has a south-facing verandah that wraps around the gable end, with an overhanging roof supported by rustic timber posts. There are two sash windows with glazing bars and paired louvred shutters, and between these windows is a half-glazed door. Each wing of the house has an internal ridge stack. Valley Cottage is one of a pair of houses that are similar but not identical, located on opposite sides of the road, with the other house not being of special interest.
