Description

Shoemakers Cottage is a house from the first half of the 17th century. It features a timber frame with a cement-rendered facade, while the rest of the exterior is plastered. The cottage has a thatched roof and is 1½ storeys high, designed in a 2-cell, lobby entry style. There are two windows on the front, which are 20th-century metal casements with small panes, and a mid-20th-century glazed door. The building has two large eyebrow dormers that contain similar windows to those on the ground floor. The chimney stack has a tall rendered oblong shaft. Inside, there is intact plain studding, and the wall braces are visible on the exterior. The ground floor features plain joists set flat in the two rooms, a blocked fireplace with the original lintel, and a newel stair.
