Description
Pond Farmhouse is a Grade II listed building that consists of three houses, originally built as a large farmhouse in the late 16th century, around 1600, and constructed in at least two stages. The building has two storeys and a three-cell plan with a small rear service wing. There are doorways at both lobby-entrance and cross-entry positions. The farmhouse is timber-framed, with the front elevation encased in mid-19th century red brick, while the other sides are plastered. On the right-hand gable, there is a carved oversailing tiebeam. The roofs are slated, having previously been thatched, and there are two axial 17th-century chimneys made of red brick, one featuring four octagonal flues and the other two. The mid-19th century small-pane casements have cambered heads at the front, and a small mullioned window is visible in a side wall. The doorways from the 19th century have 20th-century flush doors. Although the interior has not been examined, it is likely to contain notable late 16th-century features.
