Description
Ashburnham Cottages are two houses built as one, dating from the early 17th century, with a possible earlier core. The buildings have two storeys and one storey with attics, following a two-cell plan. They are timber-framed and plastered, featuring a pantiled roof that was once thatched, and an axial chimney made of red brick from the 17th century. The windows are mid-20th century small-pane casements, and there are half-glazed doors. No. 49 includes an early 17th-century parlour block with exposed unmoulded framing, while No. 47 lacks exposed framing, suggesting it may be a later rebuilding of the hall and service range.
