Description
Meadow Farmhouse is a Grade II listed building located on Storrington Road in Thakeham. This L-shaped house dates from the 17th century or earlier, with a later 17th-century extension and 19th or 20th-century alterations.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and features timber framing with plaster infilling. The ground floor and cross wings have been largely rebuilt in red brick. The building is topped with a tiled roof, which includes a pentice at the end of each wing. There is a small single internal axial chimney stack. The windows are irregularly placed on both storeys and consist of casements, some of which have diamond-shaped or small square panes.
The materials and detailing suggest that the original sections of the house date back to the 17th century, making it a notable example of timber-framed architecture from that period.
