Description
Nos. 45 and 47 on Great Back Lane is a building that dates back to the early 17th century and was originally one house before being divided into two. It features a mid-20th century one-storey addition to the right, which is part of No. 47. The structure is timber framed with roughcast render and a thatched roof, arranged in a two-cell form and standing two storeys tall. The building has small-paned casement windows, with three on the ground floor and two on the first floor, along with a 19th-century four-panel door. There is an internal stack with a plain axial shaft. The mid-20th century addition includes standard casement windows and a glazed door. Inside No. 45, some of the structure is exposed, although the studs are concealed. It features an axial bridging beam with nicked stop-chamfers and slightly irregular plain joists set flat. There is also a blocked fireplace with the original lintel. The interior of No. 47 has not been examined.
