Description

Cliff House is an 18th-century timber-framed and plastered building with early to mid-19th century additions at the north end. The original 18th-century section faces west towards the quay and has two storeys plus attics. It features a two-window range, with a lower extension of one window range at the south end. The ground storey includes a large early 19th-century bay window and a 20th-century entrance porch. The west front has two gabled wings with decorative bargeboards and a central section with a castellated parapet. The window arrangement is 1:2:1, and the windows are typically double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The north central doorway is highlighted by a large mullioned fanlight and an ornate pediment supported by brackets carved with figures. The roofs are tiled and feature a modillion eaves cornice on the carved brackets, with two flat-headed dormers situated between the 16th and 19th-century sections. Additionally, there is a tall 19th-century chimney stack.
