Description

No. 2 and 4 Duke Street is an early 19th-century house and corner shop. The building has three storeys and features a double front with three windows. It has a slate roof with projecting eaves and a ridge stack. The exterior is made of multi-coloured stock brick, with gauged flat brick surrounds to the recessed sash windows that have glazing bars. The wooden doorcase includes pilasters and console brackets supporting a pediment, with a radiant fanlight above a raised and fielded panel door. The wooden shopfront features a pilaster copping entablature, with shop windows that have small panes and arched radiant heads, along with a recessed shop doorway at the corner.
