Description
The Sorrel Horse Inn, located at 1260 Fore Street, is a 17th-century timber-framed and plastered building that has undergone significant alterations in the 18th century and later. It is now faced with pebbledash. The structure features a cross wing at the north end with a gable facing Grimwade Street, along with an adjoining block that extends east at the rear (No 121). The building has two storeys and attics, with windows that are mainly double-hung sashes, some including glazing bars, and others being casements. No 119 has a small single-storey extension extending east at the front. The ground floor includes a 20th-century shop front with a corner entrance. Together, Nos 119 and the Sorrel Horse Inn create a picturesque cluster of timber-framed buildings. The roofs are tiled, and the Sorrel Horse Inn features two flat-headed dormers. Nos 119 and 121 form a group with Nos 123 to 129 (odd) and Nos 77 to 83 (odd) on Grimwade Street.
