Description
Olde Tudor Cafe is a late 15th century to 16th century timber-framed and plastered house with a cross wing at the north end. It has two storeys and attics. The upper storey juts out on curved brackets with carved capitals, moulded shafts, and an embattled bressumer. The main block features exposed timber-framing, while the cross wing is plastered. The first storey windows are three-light casements with Tudor arched heads and lattice leaded lights, connected by small high-level casements. The ground storey has been reconstructed in a 16th century shop style, similar to No 35, and includes a doorway with carved spandrels. The cross wing was altered in the 18th to 19th century and has a ground storey of painted brick. The upper storey and gable are jettied, with a two-window range of double-hung sashes without glazing bars in flush cased frames. The attics are lit by a window in the gable. The roofs are tiled, featuring one flat-headed dormer. Nos 35 to 39 form a group.
