90 and 92, Berners Street

Nos 90 and 92 Berners Street is a late 19th century red brick building with stucco dressings. Originally built as two houses, it has since been converted into flats. The building stands three storeys high, with attics and basements. Both the east and west fronts feature a five-window range that is similar in design. The windows are double-hung sashes with single vertical glazing bars, while the second storey windows have semi-circular heads. Each window range is set in a slightly recessed stucco surround that rises through all three storeys. The corners of the building are accentuated with stucco pilasters. The basement storey is finished in rusticated brick, with heavy brick rusticated voussoirs above the windows. The roof is slate, topped with a wide modillioned and dentilled stucco cornice. At each end of the building, two tall chimney stacks rise, and there are paired semi-circular headed windows in stucco surrounds that light the attics. Nos 32 to 84 (even) and Nos 90 and 92 form a group with Nos 25 to 89 (odd).
